I have used 2006 and 2009 and although they worked well 2010 is a great deal better. The link with Ancestry is quicker and Ihad no problem signing up for the
6 month subscription. The only gripe is that the subscription is only for the essential access you will have to pay to upgrade for the premium which gives you more info. I was unable to transfer 2006 to 2010 without re-inputting data but this was easy. I have made contact with other people researching the same family so all in all a great product.

I found family tree maker 2010 Platinum Edition brilliant, so much better than my old version 16, however it is so different it took awhile to find everything, but well worth while the effort, users new to FTM will probably find it easier as they will start from scratch. being able to download family history and searching through the records from Ancestry is a real plus and the 'Getting started guide' was very helpful
Also a bargain price from Amazon, and delivery quick and efficient.

I bought this, as I have done with new editions previously. Loaded with no problem, I've been an Ancestry member for some years so no use for 'Free Trials'. Major gripe is that I found the programme had 'improved' itself to a far worse programme - this is not uncommon but quite unexpected here, the old one was very good, and friendly. I quickly re-installed my old FTM and the picture files etc which seemed to have either disappeared or become difficult to access on the new edition. I'll stick with 2006.

Ease of usage appreciated.
Initial installation problematic via Windows 7 requiring 4 attempts!
Appears to provide ability to inter-link with early FTM editions especially 2008 edition.

I jumped at the chance to review this product as I am in the middle of creating my family tree and with the chance of 6 months free membership to ancestry thought it was too good to turn down - how wrong I was.
I installed the programme quickly and easily, downloaded my tree from genes reunited, imported it into FTM2010 and tried to access ancestry. Every time I tried to access it said that I would get two weeks free membership provided I input my credit card details, which I did not want to do. So my original six months has shrank to two weeks and this has shrank to zero weeks as I am blowed if I am handing out my credit card details willy nilly.
From a user point of view, the programme is simple to understand, and easy to use, but without the 'free' ancestry membership it is pointless. Have a rethink FTM/ancestry and actually offer what you said you would offer.
