| Customer Reviews: Very good phone August 19, 2008 S. Haskins 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
I've had my Diamond for 3 weeks now and I'm very impressed with it. I did have some problems with the touch screen when I first got it. I found I had to press very hard to get the screen respond, but there was a very simple reason for that. . . I've owned Windows Mobile powered deviced before and each one of them insists you perform a simple screen alignment when you use it for the first time. On past versions of WM you simply touched the cross-hair with the stulus. In the Diamond you have to touch and hold the cross-hair for a second. Having not read the manual I touched the screen and nothing happened, so I touched harder and harder until it worked. This was my downfall as the diamond very cleaverly calibrates the screen sensitivity based on how hard you touch the screen when aligning it. I performed a hard reset and calibrated the screen with a much lighter touch and it's far more sensitive now.
The touch flow 3d interface is ingenious and very well thought out. The animated weather icons are brill expecially when its raining, but it is only a front end to Windows Mobile. Once the novelty of it wore off I turned it off and it speeded things up quite a lot.
The GPS is very responsive and locks on to more satellites than my old dedicated unit. I have Tomtom running on it with no problems whatsoever.
The media player is ok, but not fantastic. I've got an 160GB ipod so this was never going to replace that. I've never really got on with Microsoft media player in any form. It seems to work ok on the Diamond so I'll leave it at that.
Email and SMS are both taken care of by Windows mobile (TF3D can only read the messages. As soon as you tap the message your into Windows mobile. Both work as expected.
The screen is smaller than I expected, but very easy to read. It's certainly the best screen I've seen on a smartphone.
The final thing to do when you get it is download the ROM update from HTC. It fixes a few bugs and speeds up Touch flow 3d.
The only thing missing is Haptic feedback especially when typing messages or emails. It only got 4 stars because of this. Hopefully HTC will include it in future ROM updates.
All in all an excellent phone.
HTC TOUCH DIAMOND July 15, 2008 Angie (England) 6 out of 12 found this review helpful
Having been a pda owner for some years, I was really excited when this new HTC came on the market. I purchased it last week. From the PDA point of view, it is much the same as my previous HTC with a few refinements. However, I still cannot make or receive calls or send or receive texts. I have been back to the shop and spent hours on the phone to Orange. It recognises other networks, Vodafone, O2, T.mobile, but not Orange. What a disappointment! I am still waiting for Orange to ring me back with an answer

I have had my HTC Diamond a week now, UK version 1.37rom.
Its a very cool cell phone. Reliable, amazing screen and touchflo 3D has got to be seen to be believed. As well as the cosmetic features its also a very powerful business device.

I bought the Touch Diamond last week, UK stock.
It has to be said this is the BEST mobile device I have ever owned and had the pleasure of using.
I can run my whole life on it, mail, internet (Highspeed..!)
It caters for all of my mail accounts - I have three.
The video and camera are sublime, the Youtube application is ace, you can watch just about anything, if it's on there you can watch it...!
It feels great, very well made and you know as soon as you get around the menu system that this is truely the best mobile computer phone ever.... iphone....no way..!!
