One point to remember April 9, 2010 Mr. Gfm Abrahams (Chatham KENT UK) If you purchase a HTC TyTn ll,or any other PC-Mobile phone for pay as you go/prepay it may not give you all it's PC facilities. Check with o2, T-Mobile/Orange,Vodaphone, 3, or your mobile service provider first, as some only provide full mobile PC services to post pay/account customers.
Do I have the same phone as the other reviewers August 25, 2009 P. M. Johns (Ottery St Mary, Devon United Kingdom) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I have owned and abused a Tytn II for well over a year now on the Vodaphone network. i have put all apps through their paces having used is primarily for business. Yes I have been lucky enough to download the free Windows 6.1 OS which, I am sure has ironed out some of the issues other reviewers have commented on.
Internet access loads quickly. all menu screens respond instantly.
PC sync works 100% every time.
The camera quality is near useless and the video recording is low resolution.
but for my business needs TytnII ticks all the boxes
This Phone does what is says on the box September 26, 2008 WinMoMan (London, UK) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Having been using Windows Mobile based phones since the iMate Jam back in 2004, I would say that I have a little knowledge when it comes to touch screen phones using windows mobiles.
I am a little surprised by people who have been leaving this phone low feedback. Granted this phone has a few issues, with regards to the video performance but there is no way that this phone is a 1/5.
Prior to this I had the HTC Wizard or T-Mobile Mda 1 which was the first qwerty slide out Keyboard device HTC made. That one was an absolute nightmare out of the box and used to die on me all the time, however over time with updates it got really fast. In fact it was so good that I was a little disappointed when I upgraded to this machine.
Having said that this phone has it's advantages over the previous phone in that the screen is better, the keyboard is much better and it has built in GPS and 3g which I use all the time. TOMTOM works on this phone as if you have a real TOMTOM and picks up the satellites very quickly.
After having installed the Opera Browser I surf the web with the 3g connection all the time and I often tether it to my pc using the built in internet sharing application to surf the web on my Laptop anytime I am out and about.
People who're buying this to use it for Excel and Office applications are kidding themselves. How are you going to work on an Excel spreadsheet on a 2.8inch screen. Come one!
The phone could be faster, but it's not as slow as the people here are complaining about, my Girlfriend has a Nokia series 60 phone which she's always complaining freezes on her and I have people at work who have iPhones and their phones are always freezing on them as well. You take the rough with the smooth. People who own Ferrari's don't complain they have to have them serviced every 4000 miles, just like people who have Off roaders can't complain that they can't take corners like a hot hatch. You have to take the rough with the smooth.
If you want something which has great call quality, Surf's the web, sends emails, syncs easily with outlook; You can do some minor office work on it. Has SatNav facility, send's MMS's, Sms, has built in Wireless Lan, has built in Msn Messenger, you can play basic games on, Listen to music, watch some movies (screen's a bit small) and basically organise your life on the move, this thing kills the iPhone hands down. Granted the other one looks cooler and has a better OS. This thing has much better GPS functionality.
Bottom line is, you can get individual device's which will do all the things this does much better. But this Phone is great at doing lots of things. Granted it's doesn't do every one of them perfectly, but as a convergence device this thing Rocks. Would have been a lot better if they had sorted out the Hardware Video driver issue's but I still like my phone which I've had for 5 months.
Superb PDA/Phone July 20, 2008 Mr. M. J. Caldwell 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Well, I am lost around the feedback on this device as it is so varied. I use this device for business every single day of my life and it is a truly fantastic device. Imagine any smart phone that has ever existed and this one knocks spots off any other PDA/Phone I have ever used. Upgrading to Windows Mobile 6.1 has improved the device further.
I also use TomTom 7.4 with this item every single day of my life and this also works fantastically with the built-in GPS.
I have no complaints what-so-ever as far as the HTC Kaiser is concerned and I will never go back to Nokia which is something that I thought I would never say.
Mediocre at lots of things July 17, 2008 Nicholas Whiteley (London, UK) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This phone really does do just about everything but it doesn't do any of them very well. The call quality isn't great, it drops connections (though that could be T-mobile), the screen is slow to refresh, it doesn't allow you to control the sounds and alerts very well, the GPS struggles to get a signal... I could go on. My iPaq 4150 was a much better PDA and my old Nokia a better phone. The HTC TyTn II gets by and it is usable, just not great. Would I buy another? No.
